Our craftsmanship

A STORY OF CREATIVITY, CRAFTSMANSHIP, AND TRUST

COLLABORATIONS BUILT OVER TIME

Grace & Mila grew out of a family story with French and Chinese roots. This dual heritage is part of our identity and has naturally shaped how we design and produce our collections. Our teams in France envision each collection, while our partners in China bring their expertise in fabrics, techniques, and garment making.
This collaboration has given rise to a way of working together built on high standards, open dialogue, and an in-depth understanding of our products.

A story that unfolds over time

Since our first collections, we have chosen to build lasting relationships with our partners. Some have worked with us for more than ten years.

Knit has been part of the Grace & Mila story from the beginning

Since 2011, we’ve developed it alongside the same partner. That continuity allows us to deepen our understanding of knit fabrics, refine our techniques and details, and work together to improve the quality of our pieces.
Over the years, we’ve built a genuine relationship of trust with the teams. Our conversations, ways of working and shared standards continue to shape our expertise today.

From design to garment making, a collective effort

Every design begins with a creative vision. Our teams imagine the silhouettes, shapes, fabrics, and details; our production partners contribute their technical expertise and assess what is feasible in development. Between the first ideas and the finished piece come conversations, trials, and refinements. These conversations help us refine each design, from the first ideas to the finished piece.

PRACTICES BUILT TO LAST

Our work with our partners also includes a focus on social practices. At our initiative, we have gradually begun bringing some of our partner workshops into an audit process based on the amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) standard.

The audits cover working conditions, health and safety, and respect for workers’ rights, among other areas. To date, 30% of our workshops have been audited against this standard. We intend to continue this approach and extend it to all our partners.

For Grace & Mila, craftsmanship is as much about expertise as it is about sharing knowledge, experience, and partnerships built over time.
