to make your pieces last

OUR TIPS FOR LONG-LASTING PIECES

Caring for your clothes means caring for their story, too

At Grace & Mila, we create pieces designed to be part of your everyday life, season after season. Beyond the quality of the garments themselves, how long they last depends on how we care for them. Washing them appropriately, letting them air-dry and storing them properly help preserve the fibers, colors and shape of your clothes for longer.
Discover our tips for caring for your pieces and making more sustainable habits part of your routine.

The 5 essential steps

1. Wash less often
2. Wash at a low temperature
3. Use the right amount of detergent
4. Air-dry
5. Repair rather than replace

KNIT, COTTON, VISCOSE:
OUR SPECIFIC CARE TIPS

Every fiber has its own characteristics. To keep your Grace & Mila pieces looking their best over time, always tailor their care to their fabric composition and, above all, follow the instructions on their labels.

knitwear

PRESERVE ITS SHAPE AND SOFTNESS

To preserve its shape, feel, and comfort, avoid washing your knit. Choose hand washing or a delicate cycle in cold water or at a maximum of 20°C, according to the care label. Do not wring your knit garment after washing. Gently press out excess water, then lay it flat to dry to prevent it from stretching. Some natural fibers, such as wool, react to heat and may shrink in the wash. Gentle steaming can help the fibers regain their softness and shape.

The step that makes a difference: always dry your knitwear flat and avoid high temperatures.

cotton

PRESERVE FIBERS AND COLORS

Cotton cotton generally holds up well to machine washing. To protect its fibers and reduce the risk of shrinkage, wash at 30°C when the care label allows. Wash colored pieces with similar colors. If there is a stain, spot-treat it before washing the whole garment: this may save an unnecessary wash cycle. When ironing, choose a temperature suited to the fabric composition and iron inside out if possible.

The small step that makes a difference: spot-treat minor stains instead of washing the entire garment every time.

viscose

PRESERVE ITS DRAPE AND FLOW

The viscose requires special care to preserve its drape and feel. Whenever possible, we recommend hand washing or machine washing at a maximum of 30°C on a delicate cycle with a gentle spin to help prevent it from losing its shape. Avoid wringing the garment. To preserve its shape, dry it flat or on a hanger, depending on its construction. If needed, iron it gently inside out at a low temperature or on the silk setting.

The little step that makes a difference: wash it less often and avoid high temperatures to preserve the softness and drape of viscose.

WHAT IF A PIECE NEEDS A SECOND LIFE?

Taking care of a garment also means knowing when to repair it rather than parting with it at the first sign of wear.
A fallen button or a loose seam doesn't necessarily mean a garment has reached the end of its life. Repairing, altering, passing on, donating or reselling it can extend its use and keep it from being thrown away prematurely.

A GOOD HABIT: FOLLOW THE CARE LABEL

Every Grace & Mila garment has a care label with recommendations tailored to its materials and construction. These instructions are your best guide to keeping your piece in good condition over time.
A piece that lasts is also one you care for so you can enjoy it for years to come.
